Old Ideas

This is a recovered list of ideas I had very early on in Dimestore Novel history, from before Natasha Winter was a Dimestore Novel character. At this point I was rolling around two different ideas: Tekk Spheres, a serious sci-fi universe, and Dimestore Novel, an increasingly silly magical universe. Eventually, I abandoned Tekk Spheres and rolled the good parts of it (including Natasha) into Dimestore Novel.

Ruju is a Cursebreaker, who travels the lands helping those people infected by the evil plaguing the world. Ruju himself is cursed, by the Storm Armor he wears. In clear weather it is covered in rust and corrosion which makes moving in it nearly impossible. When storm clouds brew the armor's curse weakens, allowing Ruju to battle to his full potential. Only when all the pieces of the Armor are assembled will the curse finally be broken. When Ruju finds a street urchin in a small village that claims he is cursed, a new friendship is born. The boy, Kanji, can seemingly control the storms, causing it to rain and storm at will. Ruju and Kanji travel together, continuing to protect the people of the Cursed Lands from evil while at the same time seeking the remaining pieces of the Storm Armor.

Ruju is a strong and powerful warrior, but the Storm Armor's curse grows more powerful with ever piece he gains. Finally the curse claims his life when he is slain by the demon possessing the final armor piece. The demon escapes, leaving Kanji again an orphan. Kanji removes the armor, now freed from Ruju's body in death, and places it in a hidden place. Years later when Kanji returns, old enough to claim the Armor as Ruju knew he would, he finds the curse removed from it. The armor enhances the powers Kanji had honed under Ruju, turning him into an even more powerful warrior than Ruju had ever dreamed. Kanji's final test comes when he faces not the demon that killed Ruju, but Ruju's cursed soul, which was sacrificed to protect Kanji from the powerful curse that had claimed Ruju. It is now up to Kanji to destroy the curse, complete the armor, and allow his master's soul to rest.
