Search its Remains

Generally speaking, when something gets vaporized it doesn't leave much in the way of remains. Even so, you perform a fairly thorough search and locate a few grams of methane and carbon dioxide that you're fairly confident used to be an Error.

You store the gasses carefully in a small glass sample bottle that you keep for just such an occasion and ponder the next step of your adventure.
