Toss some more rocks into the portal
You take considerably less time to choose the next rock. Actually, you just pick up one at your feet and throw it in. Nothing happens this time, the rock just sits there like like rocks aren't supposed to move and be entertaining or something.
Undaunted, you continue chucking rocks into the portal until you have a good-sized cairn sitting in the center of the portal, almost totally obscuring the portal's floor.
