Swim to Shore. Like a Moron.

It takes hours of miserable splashing before you're even close enough to land to be sure you're going the right way. Your unerring sense of direction, plus the fact the land was in the direction the sun is setting, was all that saved you.

Speaking of which, the sun is setting, so you better hurry up. It gets real dark at night out here and while in some ways it's easier to navigate by the stars it's still not advisable to swim toward dark land in a dark ocean.

Thankfully you manage to drag yourself onto the sandy shore as the last dregs of dusk disappear behind the horizon. You ought to gather up some driftwood, get a fire going, and get dry, but after swimming miles across open ocean you feel as rubbery as a jellyfish and just as capable of building a fire.
