Spit on the pie

You decide to spit on the pie to see if it is real or not. After a good reeling back you hawk forward a loogie. Before loogie can intersect with pie, both vanish in a puff of pie-scented smoke.

"No." says the woman.

"But" you say.

"No." says the woman.

Great. How were you supposed to know not to spit on a pie? You turn and stomp back down the well-worn path toward the respectable part of town.
