Find out what Mordenkainen's Disjunction is

You head to the nearest library to try to figure out what the heck Mordenkainen's Disjunction is. You spend hours fruitlessly digging through the card catalog and tracking down potential books. Nowhere in any accessible tome is the name "Mordenkainen" mentioned,z and no spell matching its description appears in any of the most popular grimoires.

Finally, in a dusty book that looks like it's sat unused for decades you find the description of a powerful spell called "Mage's Disjunction." It's basically a Dispel bomb that hits everything within 40 feet and can even undo magical items and artifacts. There's even a carve-out that prevents it from affecting the caster's magic items.

"Cowards," you mutter.

The description goes on to warn the caster against destroying artifacts, since the feedback from doing so has a solid change of permanently burning out your ability to cast spells. It also carries a 95% chance of attracting the attention of a powerful being, but that's about 5% less than you're likely to attract the attention of powerful beings on a good day.

Somehow, learning this does not satisfy you. From the hints you can piece together, Mordenkainen is probably the mage that invented this spell, but you can find no trace of their existence anywhere.
