You reflect that if you had known this canyon was this deep, you probably wouldn't have attempted to jump across it.
Well that's silly, you then think, it's not like an extremely deep canyon is more dangerous than a normally deep canyon. Is falling 1,000 feet worse than falling 100 feet? Eventually it's all just physics.
Anyway, this canyon is WAY deeper than 1,000 feet because you've been falling for several minutes. At least, it feels like several minutes.
